Perry County Genealogical Research Library and Archive Center

The center opened in early 2015 and has a vast amount of information concerning Perry County and its citizens. Located within the Perryville Higher Education Center at 108 S. Progress Drive (2nd floor, Room 204), Perryville, MO 63775. The Library and Archive Center preserves and provides access to permanent records of Perry County, dating as early as the county’s founding in 1821.
The library has a vast amount of information concerning Perry County and its residents. Using migration and immigration routes, we also have a wide selection of local, regional, state and national resources associated with many Perry County ancestors. The library contains federal census records, marriage records, birth and death records, church records, cemetery tombstone listings, local newspaper excerpts and numerous family surname contributions.
The archive storage room is home to over hundred years of records dating back to 1821. It contains countless essential records including probates, wills, guardianships, plats, atlases, school records, tax records, land assessments, Circuit Court records, chancery records, naturalizations, newspapers on microfilm and more. It is in our archive storage room where you can access these permanent and vital records as evidential proof and documentation for your family research.
Also available for research is a wealth of published material acquired by the historical society related to the people, communities, churches and traditions of Perry County, as well as the society’s fifty plus publications.
The Perry County Genealogical Research Library and Archive Center is also a FamilySearch Affiliate Library. Our patrons now have access to the microfilm collection of the largest genealogical library in the world through our library.
