On December 16 & 17, 2021 from 2 to 9 p.m. we will celebrate the season of Christmas with our 17th annual Christmas Country Church Tour. This event has become a favorite for hundreds.

Voted in 2015 by AAA Magazine as a “Travel Treasure,” hundreds of people have journeyed to this four-county bi-state church tour to be inspired, delighted and rejuvenated with the true holiday spirit. This free, self-guided tour allows you to create your own unique and customized trip among thirty-nine participating locations scattered about the countryside of Perry County, Cape Girardeau County, Bollinger County, Ste. Genevieve County in Missouri and Kaskaskia Illinois.

Hit those less traveled roads and tour at your leisure century-old country churches, from one-room wooden clad buildings to brick and mortar masterpieces. Each church is draped in holiday decorations reflecting their traditions and culture from Roman Catholic English, Scotch-Irish Presbyterian, German Lutherans, Native American and  others. This decor really brings to life the charm, grace and old fashioned hospitality of rural America.

Among the many inspirational churches glowing with holiday cheer, you may also enjoy beautiful paintings and sculptures at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, a Christmas tree exhibit featuring over fifty themed trees at the Lutheran Heritage Center & Museum and some of the oldest worship buildings in Southeast Missouri.

This tour has been described by visitors as a remarkable countryside adventure. A treasure hunt of churches
each unique and beautiful.
